Awful pets

Lage Lund's Terrible Animals is his most compositionally ambitious and daring album out of his five records with Criss Cross. At 45 years old, he brought together a top-tier rhythm section including Sullivan Fortner on piano, Larry Grenadier on bass, and Tyshawn Sorey on drums. The album features ten original tracks that showcase Lund's creativity and innovative use of effects, resulting in dynamic and diverse playing throughout the 68-minute program.

The recording took place on April 27, 2018, at Systems Two Studio in New York. Mike Marciano, the recording engineer, handled the editing, mixing, and mastering at the same studio, as well as the vinyl remastering. The cover art was created by Robbin Veldman.
